River Terrace
A quiet DC neighborhood along the Anacostia River, with spacious parks and easy access to downtown DC, the H Street NE restaurant district, and Hwy-295.
River Terraces is an urban cul-de-sac neighborhood in Northeast Washington, D.C., on the eastern bank of the Anacostia River. It was established in 1937 and is Washington, D.C.'s only planned community with unimpeded access to the Anacostia River Park.
The 2010 U.S. Census reported 1,962 residents, living in 998 households. In addition to single-family row houses and semi-detached houses, the neighborhood has approximately 75 rental apartments in 7 low-rise multi-family buildings.
River Terrace is bounded by East Capitol Street to the south; the Anacostia River to the west; Benning Road NE to the north; and DC Route 295 to the east.
In addition to the residences, the neighborhood includes River Terrace Park (part of the National Park Service's 11 mile shoreline Anacostia Park); the River Terrace Education Center (opened 2015); the River Terrace Shopping Center; a U.S. Postal Service Carrier Annex; and the Varick Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church.

River Terrace Park
A National Park as our community's backyard, with tennis and basketball courts, a picnic pavilion and youth playground.
River Terrace Park is part of the 11-mile Anacostia Park, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2018. Visit the National Park Service for additional information on the following activities available in the Anacostia Park:
