Local Government

The District of Columbia is comprised of eight wards, each with an elected Council Member. Wards are further comprised of multiple ANCs. An ANC is a non-partisan neighborhood body of locally-elected Advisory Neighborhood Commissioners. They are a unique feature of the District's Home Rule Charter. and were started to bring the government and people closer together. The ANC is charged with being the official voice of their neighborhood with the District government (and Federal agencies) on matters that effect the neighborhood. RTCO works closely with our Council Member and ANC.
